Connecting Social Networks and Owned Sites with Adobe CQ Social Communities

Posted by Tatiana Mejia

Today we announced CQ5.5 Social Communities empowering marketers to bridge the gap between their social media efforts and owned sites through Facebook and Twitter logins, content targeting and personalization and plugin capabilities.

With Facebook hitting almost a billion users and their IPO poised to be the most anticipated tech-IPO in recent memory, marketers are wondering how they can make use of Facebook's power to reach their own goals. And with Twitter increasingly becoming the #2 traffic source after search, the question in the room is - how can we better leverage social media to connect to our customers, and to drive traffic and conversions?

However, with one growth record hitting the next, it is important not to forget a social strategy that only includes social media may not be effective. As Jeremiah Owyang points out, sending people away from your site, whether to Twitter, Facebook or any other social media destination is not going to help you reaching your goals.  In fact, social media is rarely a point for conversion.

To effectively leverage social media: First, make your website social. It is the number one destination you own and control. By making it social, you make it relevant to your customers.  Secondly, connect your website to social media and allow customers to share your content and take your site into their social environment.

This was our focus for new capabilities in CQ Social Communities that extend current features - blogs, forums, commenting, ratings, etc. – and allow for a comprehensive social marketing strategy that connects social media and owned sites. We think we’ve delivered functionality that our customers will be excited about. Take a look.

Social login and personalization:  Give your users the option to login with their Facebook or Twitter accounts to your site and then personalize their web experience by targeting content based on their social profile. Targeted content can be selected based on their interests or demographics.

Social plugins:  Allow customers to share your content with their friends. Each Like and Tweet on your site increases reach as users post to their social group and network, which in turn comments, likes and reposts the content they find compelling. That increased reach leads to increased traffic and ultimately more conversions. This is a virtuous cycle you want to be part of as a digital marketer.

And this is how you can do it with CQ5.5 Social Communities:

CQ 5.5 Social Communities is available immediately worldwide. For current CQ Social Communities customers, the new capabilities are available as a feature pack.
